Believe Me
There’s something sharp about silence,
when you’re screaming inside.
Don’t mistake the mask
for healing.
Every “nothing”
takes me everything.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean I’m not carrying it. Believe me. ♡
Behind the song
The story inside it
“I don’t need comparison, I need compassion.”
I wrote Believe Me for the moments when silence hurts as much as the illness itself—when I am trying to explain what my body and mind are carrying, but the person in front of me only sees the version of me that managed to smile.
A few good hours can look like proof that everything is fine, while no one sees the days it takes to recover. The song is about that hidden cost: the swelling, crashes, grief, and nervous system that can turn a simple task into something impossible even when I desperately want to do it.
Believe Me is not asking for pity, comparison, a fix, or a cure. It is asking for grace. It is the hope that someone will sit beside me, see past the highlight reel, and believe what I say about my own life. Sometimes compassion sounds as simple as, “You’re not alone. I’m here.”
