More Than A Name
They’d say your name before they’d say mine,
and I’d disappear inside the headline.
I’m done being someone’s echo or fame—
I’m more than a name.
They’ll know my heart before my history.
They’ll love the woman—not the mystery.
I was always someone too. ♡
Behind the song
The story inside it
“They’ll know my heart before my history.”
I wrote More Than A Name about what it feels like when other people decide who you are before they ever learn your heart. The cameras, headlines, whispers, and associations can make a real person disappear behind a story that was written for her.
The song carries the loneliness and distrust that grow when affection starts to feel like access. It asks the question underneath every polished smile: do you love me for me, or for the door you think I can open? Losing people hurt, but being surrounded by hidden motives hurt in a different way.
By the final chorus, I am no longer asking anyone else to name my worth. I am choosing my own identity, my own history, and the people who know my heart before the headlines. I was never only someone’s connection or echo. I was always a whole person—and I am Caitlin.
