New Map
New roads.
New rules. All me.
Fear doesn’t always mean
don’t begin.
I can choose a different road
and still make it out okay.
I am learning the way toward me. ♡

Behind the song
“My old map kept me alive, but this new map might let me live.”
I wrote New Map about reaching the edge of everything familiar and realizing survival had taught me routes I no longer wanted to follow. My old map could lead me back to disappointment with my eyes closed. It knew every warning sign, every detour into feeling not enough, and every road where pain was predictable. That map kept me alive, but staying alive and truly living are not the same thing.
The new road is frightening precisely because it does not look like the past. Steady hands, patience, and softness can feel foreign to a body trained to expect danger. The song asks whether discomfort might sometimes be the feeling of growing beyond what I have outgrown—not a command to run, but an invitation to pause, breathe, and let love come near without earning it first.
This is not a promise that I will never be triggered or afraid again. It is a promise to hold my own hand when the edges cave in and to choose connection even without a guarantee of how the story ends. Each time I stay present instead of pushing love away, I draw another line on the map. My old map wrote pain as fate. This one leaves room for a different road—and trusts that I can still make it out okay.
