I Felt Everything

For when you were called too sensitive so often that you almost stopped trusting how deeply you were experiencing what was happening.

A gentle map of what this song holds ♡

Emotional question
Was I really too sensitive, or was I responding to a relationship that never felt emotionally steady?
What you may need to hear

Feeling deeply doesn't automatically mean you're overreacting. Your emotions can contain useful information about what you're experiencing, even when fear or past experiences also shape the intensity of your response. You don't have to become less sensitive to deserve a relationship where you feel heard, respected, and secure.

Featured lyric
“Because feeling everything Is what finally saved me from drowning”
From the song story

For when you realize the sensitivity you spent years trying to suppress was also the part of you noticing what your mind kept trying to explain away.

VERSE 1 You said I was too much, too sensitive, too loud, but you never saw the way I swallowed storms just to keep you proud. You pulled away in slow motion, and I pretended I was fine told myself I didn’t care while every piece of me aligned to catch the slightest shift in you, the tone, the breath, the change I was reading hurricanes from whispers in your face. I wasn’t numb the way you claimed. I felt it all. Every inch. Every ache.

CHORUS I felt everything the nights you didn’t text back, the way my body tightened when your love slipped through the cracks. I felt the push, I felt the pull, I felt the warmth turn into sting. You thought I didn’t care at all, but baby I felt everything. I felt the fear, I felt the hope, I felt the lies your silence brings. Don’t tell me I was “overthinking” you made me feel every thing.

VERSE 2 You gave me half-love, half-effort, and expected me to stay like I’d be grateful for scraps of you when I showed up all the way. And yeah, I got avoidant too, but only after you withdrew. My body didn’t brace for love it braced for losing you. You called me fragile, called me clingy, said I wanted too much air but you were the one who gaslit truth and said you didn’t care. I wasn’t falling apart for nothing your inconsistency lit the fuse. I wasn’t scared of loving you… I was scared of what I’d lose.

CHORUS I felt everything the nights you left me wondering, the ache of chasing closeness that you ran from every morning. I felt the doubt, I felt the sting, the way my voice got small, trembling. You thought I didn’t feel a thing but baby, I felt everything. I felt the drop, I felt the shift, the moments where your words would twist. My heart took every hit you missed don’t tell me I didn’t feel a thing.

BRIDGE You only saw the armor you never looked beneath. Didn’t see the little girl inside who shook when you would leave. Didn’t hear the silent prayers I whispered into sheets “Please pick me this time, please stay, please see me.” I wasn’t cold. I wasn’t numb. I was overwhelmed and underestimated. You didn’t know because I never let you you’d never created a place safe enough for the truth.

VERSE 3 And now I see it clearly I was never asking for too much. I was asking for what love required: effort, safety, steady touch. I wasn’t wild, I wasn’t broken. My nervous system wasn’t wrong. It was reacting to a half-grown love that never lasted long. So call me sensitive, call me deep I’ll wear it like a crown. Because feeling everything is what finally saved me from drowning.

FINAL CHORUS I felt everything the way you never chose me, the way you’d say you missed me but your actions never proved it. I felt the truth beneath your voice, the parts of you you wouldn’t bring. You thought you fooled me with your distance but baby, I felt everything. I felt the rise, I felt the fall, I felt the way you gave me small. And now I’m done with almost-love I’m choosing someone who brings everything.

OUTRO So don’t say I was cold. Don’t say I didn’t care. Don’t say I didn’t feel a thing ’cause I felt everything. More than you’ll ever let yourself bear.

I Felt Everything

For when you were called too sensitive so often that you almost stopped trusting how deeply you were experiencing what was happening.

I Felt Everything

“I Felt Everything” is about reclaiming something I spent years believing was one of my greatest flaws. For so long, I was told I was “too sensitive,” “too emotional,” or “too much.” Eventually, I started believing it.

I wrote this song because I finally realized I wasn't hurting simply because I felt too much. I was responding to what I was actually experiencing. Every shift in energy. Every unanswered text. Every time affection became distance. Every promise that didn't seem to match the actions behind it. My body noticed those changes, sometimes before I consciously understood what I was reacting to.

The line, “You thought I didn’t care at all, but baby, I felt everything,” became the heart of this song because people can mistake composure for indifference. They don't necessarily see what happens after you leave the room. They don't see the nights you cry alone, the thoughts you replay, the questions you keep asking yourself, or the way your body can carry emotions your mouth never learned how to say. There were times when I looked guarded or pulled away too. But underneath that armor, I wasn't numb. I was overwhelmed.

That's why the bridge matters so much to me. Underneath the adult trying to stay composed was still a part of me asking to be chosen, reassured, and given somewhere safe enough to tell the truth. For a long time, I thought being deeply emotional was something I needed to fix. Healing taught me something different. My sensitivity wasn't the enemy. That doesn't mean every fear I feel is automatically proof that something bad is happening. Past experiences can absolutely influence how intensely my body responds in the present. But I don't want to solve that by automatically dismissing myself either. I want to become curious about what I'm feeling. Is this an old wound being activated? Is something happening right now that doesn't feel right? Do I need reassurance? Do I need a boundary? Do I simply need time for my body to catch up? That's a very different relationship with sensitivity than automatically telling myself I'm overreacting.

The line about my nervous system is important for the same reason. When you've learned that closeness can become unpredictable, changes in connection can feel especially significant. My body wasn't weak for reacting. It was trying to understand whether I was safe. And now I can listen to that response without letting fear make every decision for me.

That's why the ending is my favorite part. I don't want to love less. I don't want to become less empathetic, less emotional, less observant, or less capable of feeling things deeply just so nobody can ever call me “too much” again. I want to become more discerning about where I place all of that depth. I want someone who can communicate. Someone whose actions and words don't constantly leave me trying to reconcile two different stories. Someone who doesn't require me to numb myself in order for the relationship to feel manageable. Because feeling everything isn't what almost destroyed me. Learning to listen to what I feel is part of what finally taught me I deserve everything.

You don’t have to carry it alone.
