No One Sees It

For when you’re exhausted from fighting a war no one else can see and wishing someone would understand that “don’t stress” isn’t enough.

A gentle map of what this song holds ♡

Emotional question
How do I explain what I’m fighting when nobody else can see it happening?
What you may need to hear

You don’t have to look distressed for your distress to be real. Trauma responses can happen internally, through hypervigilance, intrusive memories, physical activation, or feeling unsafe even when other people can’t see an obvious threat. You deserve compassion, not judgment for reactions that aren’t visible from the outside.

From the song story

For when your body is fighting battles nobody around you can see, and what you need most isn’t fixing, but someone willing to understand and stay beside you.

[Verse 1] I wake up already bracing, heart racing for a threat that isn’t there. Nobody sees the tremors underneath my breathing, nobody knows the weight I’m trying to bear. They tell me “don’t worry,” like that could flip a switch, like this isn’t wired into bone and blood. But the past comes back like it’s happening now, and I’m the only one stuck in the flood.

[Pre-Chorus] And I’m tired of pretending I’m fine, when my body’s screaming all the time.

[Chorus] ’Cause no one sees it the silent wars inside my skin. The way one sound can pull me under, drag me where I’ve already been. And no one meets me not even halfway, not even close. They just say “don’t stress,” like it’s that easy, like it’s not trauma running the controls. And I’m so tired of walking this road alone, when all I want is someone who makes me feel safe… someone who gets it… someone who stays.

[Verse 2] I wish they knew this isn’t “overthinking,” it’s my brain keeping score of every wound. A body stuck on high alert, scanning rooms for old ghosts that still bloom. I ask for patience, I ask for softness, but they act like it’s asking for the world. Like helping me feel safe is some big inconvenience, like my pain is just another chore.

[Pre-Chorus] And I hate that I feel like a burden for needing what no one ever learned to give.

[Chorus] ’Cause no one sees it the battles raging under my skin. The way my mind rewinds without warning, the way the old scenes pull me back in. And no one meets me not even a quarter of the way there. They say “I’ve got a thousand other problems,” like I haven’t been drowning in thin air. And I’m so tired of trying to stay composed when all I want is someone who slows down with me… who stands beside me… who holds the door open to feeling safe again.

[Bridge] I don’t need perfection, I just need protection. Someone who won’t disappear when the triggers hit, someone who says “I’m here , let’s face this.” I don’t need saving, I just need someone staying, someone willing to learn my storms instead of telling me to “get over it.”

[Final Chorus] ’Cause no one sees it how lonely it gets inside this fight. How every day feels like defusing bombs that only I know ignite. But someday I’ll find someone who doesn’t flinch at my fear, who says “you’re safe, I’m here.” Until then I’ll breathe, I’ll try, I’ll rise even when no one understands the war behind my eyes.

[Outro] It’s hard living in this body, it’s hard when no one sees the truth… but I’m still here. And that counts for more than they’ll ever know.

No One Sees It

“No One Sees It" is about how lonely it can feel to live with something that is constantly happening inside your body while remaining almost completely invisible to everyone around you. There are moments when my mind can know I'm safe, but my body is responding as if something is wrong. My heart races. My breathing changes. I become hyperaware of sounds, people, rooms, or tiny details that might mean nothing to someone else. Sometimes a trigger happens before I've even consciously understood what my body recognized. And from the outside, I can still look completely normal. That's where the title comes from.

There can be an entire war happening behind my eyes while the person looking at me sees almost nothing. The line, “How every day feels like defusing bombs that only I know ignite.” became the heart of this song because that's what hypervigilance can feel like to me. You're constantly anticipating something other people don't even know you're watching for. And when people respond with “don't worry,” “don't stress,” or “just stop thinking about it,” it can make an already isolating experience feel even lonelier. I know people don't always know what to say. But sometimes I don't need someone to solve it. I don't need perfection. I don't need someone to rescue me from every trigger. I need someone willing to understand that the experience is real even when they can't see it.

That's why the bridge says: “I don’t need saving I just need someone staying.” To me, safety can sometimes look incredibly ordinary. Someone slowing down instead of rushing me. Someone listening instead of immediately trying to fix me. Someone learning what helps instead of treating my needs like an inconvenience. Someone being able to say, “I'm here,” without making me feel ashamed that I needed to hear it. The song also holds the exhaustion of being the person who keeps functioning anyway.

There are days when simply appearing okay takes more energy than anyone realizes. And that's why the outro matters: “It’s hard living in this body, It’s hard when no one sees the truth, But I’m still here.” The ending isn't pretending the invisible war suddenly disappears. It's recognizing that continuing to show up while carrying something other people can't see is its own kind of strength. I don't need everyone to completely understand what living inside my nervous system feels like. But I do want the people closest to me to believe me when I tell them it's hard. Sometimes being understood doesn't mean someone experiences the battle with you. It simply means they stop making you fight to prove that the battle exists.

You don’t have to carry it alone.
