Goodbye

For when you finally stop waiting for one more answer and realize the only thing left to do is let go.

A gentle map of what this song holds ♡

Emotional question
What if closure isn’t getting one more answer, but accepting that I’m ready to leave without it?
What you may need to hear

You don’t need every unanswered question resolved before you’re allowed to move forward. Sometimes closure is recognizing that you’ve learned enough, felt enough, and no longer need another conversation to know what comes next.

Featured lyric
“Some endings don’t need answers They just need release”
From the song story

For when you’ve spent so long trying to understand the ending that you finally realize peace may come from releasing the questions instead of answering them.

Verse 1 I said everything I needed Every truth I couldn't hide All the nights I stayed believing In a love that slowly died You say you never meant to hurt me Say you didn't know the cost But intentions don't repair All the things that we lost

Pre-Chorus I kept hoping there was meaning In the silence you would leave But some endings don't need answers They just need release

Chorus So this is goodbye Not angry, not pretending Just finally understanding Where this story ends I gave you all the honesty You couldn't give to me And now the only thing left Is letting you be free This is goodbye

Verse 2 I kept waiting for a moment Where the truth would finally land Where you'd look at what we were And just reach for my hand But the space between your words And the things you chose to do Was a distance I kept crossing Trying to get back to you

Pre-Chorus But love shouldn't feel like chasing Someone halfway out the door

Chorus So this is goodbye Not angry, not pretending

Just finally understanding What all that pain was for I gave you all the honesty You couldn't give to me And now the only thing left Is letting you be free This is goodbye

Bridge Maybe someday you'll see it The way I see it now How the truth we never said Was louder than our vows Maybe someday it'll hit you What honesty could've done But by then I'll be somewhere Where love doesn't have to run

Final Chorus So this is goodbye No more questions left between us No more trying to believe In something that could be I gave you all the honesty You couldn't give to me And the last thing I can offer Is walking away peacefully Goodbye

Goodbye

For when you finally stop waiting for one more answer and realize the only thing left to do is let go.

Goodbye

I wrote Goodbye when I realized I had already said everything I could say. For a long time, I thought closure would come from one final conversation where everything finally clicked. Where he understood what hurt me, I understood why it happened, and somehow all the unanswered questions would settle. But eventually I realized I was still waiting for someone else to give me permission to close a chapter I already knew was over.

This song isn’t an angry goodbye. It’s the quieter kind. The one that happens when you stop trying to make someone understand and accept that you may never get the conversation, apology, or explanation you hoped for. I could still care about him and walk away. I could wish things had been different without continuing to wait for them to become different. Sometimes the final answer is simply accepting there are no more answers you need to chase.

You don’t have to carry it alone.
